My Dad told Alan that his attitude was rude and out of line, and there were already a ton of red flags with this transaction, but we were still trying to work with him here. Alan responded that none of the issues of the day were “his fault.” He then decided to attack me, saying, “Well we could have had the financing completed on Sunday, but your daughter wanted to wait because clearly she needed a ‘decision maker’ to be here.” ….Excuse me? Not only is this rude, but it came across as incredibly sexist. Telling Alan that I didn’t want to close the deal on Sunday (the first time I ever saw the car) because I wanted to talk to my Dad doesn’t mean that I can’t make a decision…Additionally, whether I want my Dad, aunt, or dog to be with me at the closing is none of Alan’s business.
I saw a car on Sunday and went in that Tuesday with my Dad to take it in for a Complete Vehicle Inspection & close the deal. Even though I was already pre-approved on a loan, I also applied for financing through Hertz to see if they’d offer a better interest rate.
Come Tuesday (closing day) they can’t find the key to the car, my financing application hasn’t been processed or even reviewed, I have to push the CVI back an hour because things are so behind, and while waiting, we notice a sign on the wall that says they don’t take debit/credit, only checks/money orders. When we express that we wish we had been told about the check-only policy because now, on top of everything else, we have to factor in the additional step of going to the bank, our salesperson, Alan, condescendingly tells us “Well the sign was there the whole time. It’s not my fault you didn’t see it.”
Nice cars and good selection. No-haggle pricing. The offices are small and old but sufficient. They're a bit disorganized, so double check the assumptions by looking up the VIN on their products.
At that point, we decided to walk out. I’ve truly never had someone in a customer service/sales role speak to me that rudely. EVER. A manager stopped us and asked what happened and my Dad said that we were treated rudely by Alan & he could talk to him because we were leaving. When the manager turned to Alan, he immediately launched into a spiel about how we were the “angry” ones and at fault — clearly the whole “not my fault” schtick is his MO.
Friendly, no pressure experience. Miguel Salazar was patient and helpful as I looked at six different models and drive two, then left saying I'd come back another day. He was responsive to email questions and efficient when we came back for the sale, even going above and beyond to start detailing the car before the detail staff arrived. Persephone in finance was helpful, thorough, and delightful with our cash sale. As pleasant as it gets when buying a car from a dealer.
Truly the most TERRIBLE experience I’ve ever had at a car dealership. Additionally, Alan Brown is the most rude customer service rep. I’ve ever worked with and I’m honestly surprised his attitude is allowed to persist there.
This is the worst establishment ever. Buying a car is suppose to be stress free however Hertz has been an complete headache. I will never by or rent another car from them.
Great deals on used cars! Great customer service!
