The vibe was cool . The employees were A-1 . Definitely going back again.

Been here twice once every past month, love the atmosphere ms.Tanya does a fantastic job shampooing my hair, ms.london does my maintenance and style i am above pleased every time I visit, I've also tried the lemongrass oil sold in the shop for $15 its amazing, has a lovely smell.

Before I begin, I would like to acknowledge that Michelle is an amazing stylist overall. I have researched and seen some i here previous works and styles and they are extremely beautiful. Unfortunately, my personal experience was not as great as I thought it would be. I knew I wouldn’t be let down and disappointed, but I was wrong. My mother had been going to her for a couple of times before me and recommended me to get my starter locs done by her. The first couple of times were pretty good. I thought we were getting off to a great start. The third time I came back for a retwist, things took a turn for the worse. My hair was not locking the was it was supposed to. I left out the shop that third time with still puffy and loose roots. My roots were not tightly and neatly done. My mom actually started to turn around and let her fix the few locs that weren’t done correctly. We brushed it off and a couple of days later I had hair that wasn’t even in a loc. The hair was just freely hanging. My mother has had locs for 12 years so I already knew the do’s and donts with locs. I wrap my hair every night. Keep it moisture’s and most importantly KEPT MY HANDS OUT OF my fresh starter locs at all times. To be clear, I am not a new when it comes to natural hair as a whole. The things I did with my starter locs are things that I have been doing for years so the transition was not hard. I have been natural since the day I was born. No chemicals ( dye, texturizer, relaxer, etc ) have ever touched my hair (I’m 18 by the way). Michelle was extremely confident since my hair was not locking and twisting the way she wanted to that I was “playing in” and “twisting my own hair” I came back in after about 6 days from my maintenance appointment. She and the shampoo lady continued to lecture me and blame me for the reason my hair was not locking fast and correct enough. In my honest opinion, I believe every person’s hair is different. Michelle told me that my hair is not much different than the many other heads she had been doing and that she’s been doing hair for a “long time”. ( by the way, our last conversations that I am referring to were when I came back in for my hair to be touched up only after about 6 days from my ORIGINAL maintenance) It frustrated me so much because of the fact that she was blaming me for my hair not doing what she thought it was supposed to do. I believe even if a person’s hair is similar to another it is still not the exact same. I honestly believe my hair was growing extremely faster and curlier than she thought. I feel like you can’t twist everyone’s hair the same because our hair grows different in its own way. I feel like each client should have their own personal preferences and relationship with the loctician simply because everyone’s hair is not the same. When my mother and I tried to consult her about what we could do to fix my hair and get it going like it’s supposed to be she simply said she didn’t know and that she’ll pin it up next time. No recommendations, nothing. I feel like she didn’t care to even try to help me since she felt like something was so wrong with my hair. She was so convinced that I was honestly playing in and retwisting my hair as to why it wasn’t “doing right”. The experience was so distasteful. I expected so much more given the awesome reviews I received. I feel like as a client I should have been more taken care of and not blamed and neglected. As stylist I feel they should be able to take criticism and if someone isn’t satisfied with his or her work, not blaming the client when things aren’t quite right. At the end of the day, she was the only one doing my hair. We did not show up for our next appointment and a voicemail was left on my mothers phone saying if we came back it would be an extra charge and that Michele would not be doing our hair, it would be someone different. Absolutely not pleased with my so short experience there. Blessings to everyone and I hope no one goes through what my mother and I went through and continue to receive good service from LocMamas.

This was my first and last visit. Overall vibe of the salon was cool, products smelled nice, however Michelle thought it was ok to talk about my hair, and not in a constructive manner. I follow on social media and have seen other posts that are quite unprofessional(talking about condition of clients hair). Stylist should remember that clients come to get their hair done and ultimately feel better about themselves.

I had very bad experience with Michele. Very very condescending. Only care about style and not good with starter locs. My daughter and I made appointment to start her locs and 6 weeks into locs she accuses her of retwisting her locs and was not doing like she want then to do. My daughter stated she was not touching her hair but Michele believed so as a customer we expected her to be compassionate concerned about hair. I even ask what can be done to recovered. Michele stated she did not know with no concerned. Well you treat people how u want to be treated. I did not make another appointment with her again. I really was disappointed with attitude. My daughter did not like the treatment either especially new beginning of locs.
